International guests will fly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS). From there, you have a few options to reach Friesland:

By Train

• The train from Schiphol Airport to Friesland takes about 2–3 hours. You can travel via Leeuwarden to Sneek. From Sneek, it’s a 15-minute taxi or car ride to Pollepleats or Heeg.

By Car

• If you prefer flexibility, you can rent a car at Schiphol. The drive north to Friesland takes about 90 minutes.

Do You Need a Car?

• We will arrange group transportation between Heeg and the wedding at Pollepleats on August 15th.

• But if you’re traveling with a group, planning to rent a house outside the city, or want maximum freedom to explore the Netherlands, we definitely recommend renting a car.

• If you’re traveling on your own or as a couple, it’s certainly possible to get around without a car. You can take the train from Amsterdam to Sneek. Do note, however, that transportation options become more limited once you’re outside the city. We’ll do our best to help coordinate ride sharing where needed.
